E. Kent Hardley owned a general store and was the brother of Charley Hardley, who ran a slot machine syndicate. After a police raid on the Hardley hideout, his wounded nephew Uno sought refuge in his store. Tracy traced Uno to Kent’s store and arrested his nephew, who soon died from blood loss. After the death of his brother and nephews, E. Kent inherited nearly a million dollars in small change which he hid in the basement of his restaurant, protected by an electric eel. A tropical storm hit the coast and the restaurant was buried by debris and when work crews went to dig up the money they found it missing, stolen by the criminal named Rhodent.
