Previous Year

Rughead (July – March)
Rughead ran a large stolen fur racket, which is accidentally discovered by Sparkle and Little Wingy. Consequently, Tracy is soon on Rughead’s trail. He tries spying on the gang at their hideout by posing as an electrical worker up on a pole, but Rughead recognizes one of the keys on Tracy’s belt as a call box key and knows that the “worker” is a cop. After a brief shootout, Rughead and his right-hand man Happy escape. Rughead decides he’s had enough of Tracy so he sends Happy to bump him off. Tracy knew the heat was on him, so he has his arm put in a cast with a gun. Happy gets cocky thinking he had shot Tracy in the earlier shootout, and gets careless taking too much time to kill Tracy, at which point Tracy kills him. This sends Rughead into a panic and he flees to Mexico.

While he’s gone, Tracy tries to learn more about Rughead’s racket, so he starts by interrogating Happy’s old girlfriend Corny, and also starts to snoop around at Ned Noxx’s business (Noxx was Rughead’s fence). Ned suspects Corny is talking to the police about his business, so he runs her down. Rughead arrives back in the city and goes to Ned’s wanting some cash, but instead of obliging, he calls the cops on Rughead. Rughead retaliates by robbing Ned and then killing him. When the word gets out in the underworld about Rughead’s wealth, several people are after his cash, including Mimi, an old flame of his. Rughead is kidnapped and about to be robbed when he escapes into an old waterway. The police show up, and sort out the shootout, only to find Rughead dead from a ricochet bullet.

Mumbles gets Healthy (March – August)
It turns out Mumbles did not die on a raft in 1947 but was instead rescued by an elderly eccentric millionaire and health nut George Ozone.  Mumbles began to tutor Ozone’s wild children Neki and Hokey and learned yoga and exercise from Ozone while consuming a steady health based diet.  Mumbles soon learned about a treasure cache Ozone had in the river and he killed Ozone and went to retrieve it.  With Dick Tracy as a witness, Mumbles was caught by the river and drowned a second time.

Oodles and Nothing Yonson (August – December)
Oodles was a 467 pound criminal who had killed Mrs. Vulcan’s husband for her 20 years ago in exchange for a grand a month payment. When Tracy discovers the body and its identity, it brings the heat on her, and so she tries to cut Oodles’ payments off. He retaliates by killing her. Soon Tracy is after Oodles, who happens to start hanging out at Nothing Yonson’s night club to hide out. Before he knows it, Nothing finds himself being interrogated by Tracy about Oodles’ whereabouts, and at that point, Nothing’s photographer Lizz comes forward with help. Oodles finds out, so he has Nothing’s man, Joe Period rough her up. This just irritates Lizz more, so she and her husband Jimmy help Tracy find Oodles at Nothing’s private cabin. Oodles gang is arrested and Oodles is killed when he tries to use his pen gun on Tracy. Nothing is at the scene when all hell breaks loose, but gets away because as Dick Tracy says: “He was only delivering food. We can’t arrest him for that.”

My first memory of Dick Tracy was seeing him chained inside a drainage tile. This must has occurred around 1955 or so because I was very young. Anyone out there know anything about this episode?? If so please advise.
